TDM insults Johor Malay or Shahrir in denial...

Shahrir Samad 'was' well-known of his outspoken. Nowadays, I have serious doubt if he is really 'yang terbaik antara kita' as advertise in his blogs. I personally believe he changed a lot after people start questioning about his credibility as PAC's president to investigate the ECM libra-Avenue Capital scandal.

I loss hope when I read his comment on TDM speech on the Star as follows.

JOHOR BARU: It is insulting to suggest that Johor Malays are weak and incapable of competing with others in the Iskandar Development Region (IDR), said Johor Baru MP Datuk Shahrir Abdul Samad.

He was commenting on a recent statement by former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who said that he was not confident that the Malays could compete with the people coming into the IDR.

Shahrir said it was not fair to say that Johoreans were weak.

My question to Shahrir, how many percent of Johor Malays are categorised as rich?? How many percent of them live in the heart of Johor Bahru? How many percent of them still live in low cost flat, low cost terrace house, and 'setinggan'? Thank goodness majority of Malays still live in villages- they don't care what happen in JB.

While he has respect for Dr Mahathir’s views, he felt that the former premier had himself created such a situation and was now complaining about it.

“This is the result of his own strategies and policies. The present Government is just building upon what he has created.

“I don’t understand why he thinks that Johor Malays are weak and I think it is an insult to the Johor Malays,” Shahrir told a press conference after officiating Umno Youth’s sponsorship of books.

Shahrir noted that Kedahan Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary had control over much of the logistic hubs in the IDR with his ownership of the Johor Port, Senai airport and 70% of Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP).

“Maybe its true that we are weak and since he (Dr Mahathir) is Kedahan, maybe that is why he decided to give the ports to a Kedahan.

Let us compare TDM's hometown and AAB's hometown. In 22 years TDM era, I did not see much changes in Kubang Pasu. But when AAB became PM, I really see the changes in Kepala Batas and Penang..The development in Bertam is unbelievable. Bertam, which I described as 'Jin bertendang' place when I was a kid, was well developed in 3 years time.

To say Syed Mokhtar was TDM's favourite was also wrong. If we dig deeply about this guy, TDM used to give him a hard time in business until he proved himself worthy. He started from a small business to become millionaire, unlike some people who benefit from connection to become millionaire :-)

Notes: Shahrir's blog was 'spammed' again like Shahrir-UMNO blog...Tu la Datok, cakap tak serupa bikin :-D
