The claim that Malaysia and Indonesia killed thousands of orang utan for palm oil plantation is completely ridiculous. It's common for western country to use 'activists' for their own good :-) It's just a threat to their soy oil industry...
I still remember in 1990s, western country claimed that palm oil contained high cholesterol and complex polymer chain that may cause cancer, which caused significant dropped in palm oil market. As a result, the demand for soy oil was significantly increased, in which western country was the largest producer...that's how business works! Rob from the poor, give to the rich...
Western country need to realise although Asian countries like Malaysia and Indonesia are the largest oil palm producers and exporters, they are not competitor to western country. Although palm oil dominate 24% of global oil market, it barely enter western and European market. Thank goodness, we have large population in Asian countries..
