Proton-Finally, something to proud of..

Utusan reported that Proton is in the top 5 of the fastest selling car in Australia in the first quarter 2007, beat Kia and Hyundai. Isn't it amazing? While, Proton barely survive in Malaysia, reported lost since last year, they manage to pull out and sell their brand overseas. No doubt they use the word 'Japan technology' for promotion, but it's still a good achievement! Bravo...

Since Perodua launched Myvi, Proton's sale dropped significantly. Nothing much to be proud of about Myvi, it's a re-brand from Daihatsu Sirion. No wonder Perodua got contract to supply Dathaisu Sirion to Indonesia :-D Anyway, interior-wise, I give thumb up to Perodua for redesign the interior...Sirion's interior sucks!

Anyway, back to the topic. Although most Malaysian think Proton is collapsing, I believe they can pull out. First and foremost, Proton needs to run the business like business-not influence by government or politician. Proton doesn't need to have collaboration with AP king's company (we know who :-)) for Proton has a more mature technology. Proton has to understand the main requirements for Malaysian buyer:
  • petrol consumption, as the price keep increasing
  • safety
  • comfort
  • affordable
