from gray to slightly blue....:-)

I was nominated by my dean to attend 'kursus kepimpinan pensyarah muda' in Langkawi from 7-11th Dec 2007...

When my dean asked me about it, I thought why not...then only she forwarded the letter to me..The course was organised by Ministry of Higher Education and Biro Tata Negara...hmmm I think most of you can guess what the course is all about hehehehe...let me copy a bit an email I receive from them:

Y. Bhg. Dato'/ tuan / puan,

This course was not properly organised..we had to arrange everything by ourselves. I could not even get a hotel a day before either in Langkawi or Kuala Perlis...Finally, I managed to get flight ticket, Firefly, on the registration day...

With my flight Firefly that could not fly for more than 3 hours, it was quite tiring when I got there. I was quite lucky, I reached Langkawi about time they have LIMA air show. So I spent several minutes just to watch the air show :-D By the time I reached BTN camp, they were in the middle of first talk. Well, I would say it was a good talk. At least we can see how many seats in universities was robbed from us under the name of meritocracy...why?? BN components lost hope in UMNO due to 1999 election..there you go...One question from the speaker why students live in the same place, eat the same food, taught by the same teacher but very few Malay got excellent result??

We raised question to the speaker..Universities are the final filter in education..In water supply system, if we don't have a got filtration system, the final filter won't be able to produce clean water. In universities, especially engineering and science, we can really differentiate those from STPM and matriculation..Those from matriculation really weak in maths, chemistry, and physic unlike their friends from STPM. How on earth we can expect them to compete in university??

I like LDK session since my facilitator quite good to make us see reasons :-) Not that I changed to BLUE already...but I can see reason why these people have to vote for 'big' party even though they know this people is full of shit...just for ketuanan Melayu...well, I can't really lay out the statistic here...I agree with my facilitator, politicians are stupid...i don't think they ever think about it...they don't care about their religion, race etc but they only think of themselves...and we 'anak bilis' have no choice but to vote for them...life is just unfair...

I really hate kuliah maghrib and suboh because the ustaz was in PMS state :-D..Not only the Islam HAD-HARI is so lame, the ustaz itself so unpredictable..guess what, 3/4 of women 'boikot' kuliah...Had-hari is an approach..what approach???approach to make people run away!??

They keep on talking about Hindraf..Hello, government was the one who provoke Hindraf group to gain support overseas...I heard it in the news..Once this group go overseas, they charge them...what the ....but I never support Hindraf anyway..

I like repelling from the tower..:-D for me, not worth the frightened when we were on top of the tower...hahahaha...the trainer in fact asked me to say prayers hahaha...as usual, I was a bit over...I stopped in the middle of the tower just to get a nice photo...will post it later hahahaha....

that's all about it...too many to write, but I better get back to work...

kisah kau dan aku...

tetiba terngiang-ngiang lagu Alleycats ni...:-)

Teringat kisah ku di malam itu
Sejak bertemu ku rindu selalu
Tak dapat aku melupakan oh wajah mu
Telah menjadi lukisan di hatiku

Korus1:
Bagaikan burung yang terbang berkicauan
Riang hatiku kau jadi kekasih
Tak ingin aku akan perpisahan
Hidupku riang tiada mengenal sedih

Tiada ku sangka mendung nan menjelma
Datang mengelapkan sinaran hidupku
Belum puasku merasakan hangatnya
Dingin terasa di seluruh tubuhku

Korus 2:
Masa berlalu kini kau dah berjaya
Malangnya aku telah kau lupakan
Tiada ku kesal begini jadinya
Kan ku hadapi sebagai satu cabaran

Waktu ku sepi ada yang hadiri
Memberi kasihnya sebagai penganti
Telah ku lupa segala sakit di hati
Tetapi kini engkau ingin kembali

Korus 3:
Tak mungkin aku menerimamu
Dan melukakan hati kekasihku
Lupakan saja apa yang belaku
Jadikan ini satu kisah hidupmu
(Ulang 2x)

academic life

Today is registration day for 2nd semester...unlike in NZ, here students have to get approval from academic advisor before they can register subjects for this semester...I was assigned 8 first year students to advise/supervise throughout their 4 years degree.

As expected, Chinese students did quite well in their exam. Very few Malay students did well, while others only average or below average...

Remind me of BTN talks about matriculation students: how students live in the same place, eat the same food, taught by the same teacher BUT did not get the same results??? During matriculation, more than 95% Chinese got CGPA 4.00...

During my time, we never had academic advisor. I think nowadays students are quite lucky. They have lecturer that they can ask for advice. Either they want to take the opportunity or not is another story...

I pity a guy who came to me and admit his result was bad...He's quite down when he said his family put high hope on him...quite 'touching' when a guy nearly cry in front of me hehehehe...what can I do?? The only thing I can do is try to make them see reason why they need to excel...

How hardworking is our students? God knows...I guess I'm the only one who's going to start class tomorrow..Most of the lecturers will only start their class after Christmas...during my time, we attended class whenever our lecturer asked us to do so...to date, lecturer cannot start class because students not around...unbelievable....Of course, I don't have to 'balik kampung', so I don't care...hahahahaha...

Bolehland always confident...

Another joke by The Star

I wonder, how did they choose the respondents?

Poll: Malaysians most confident of their elections

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians are not only the strongest supporters of democracy in Asia but are also the most confident that their country's elections are fair and free, according to a recent study by TNS and Gallup International.

New findings from Gallup's Voice of the People research showed that Malaysians' belief in the transparency of their elections stands in contrast to the sentiment expressed by more than half of respondents across the region who do not consider their country's election processes to be impartial.

(seriously??))

The survey interviewed more than 60,000 people in 56 countries around the world, representing the views and attitudes of more than 1.2 billion citizens.

Eight out of 10 respondents surveyed across Asia agreed that democracy is still the best system of government despite it facing problems.

About 73% of Asians said they were satisfied with the overall democratic practices in their home countries -- only 6% of Malaysians were dissatisfied. Nearly half (47%) of respondents said their elections were weighted, imbalanced and biased.

(What should we do to this 6%)

Malaysians generally felt that they were well represented by their government's actions and that they had political stability and security.

(Can we say Malaysian believes anybody who can market themselves or can 'jual minyak? or Malaysian are just too lazy too think about the best and the worst!)

TNS and Gallup International conducted the study in Asia between June and August this year with the citizens of Malaysia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, India, Pakistan, Thailand, Philippines and South Korea.

what's going on?

Nowadays, more and more politicians or their family members interested in education system..years ago, Rosmah (Najib's wife) was elected as UNISEL's canselor. Today, another joke again in Bolehland, the wife of beloved PM was appointed as Canselor for Open University...

hello...ladies and gentleman (or morons who appointed them), tell me the qualities they have, or royalty blood in them that make them the most suitable candidates for the post...In all universities in the world, Canselor was elected based on their contribution to education system...or to the country..In Malaysia, most of Canselors were from royalty family (king, sultan, sultanah)..since we have too many universities, I think most off the universities (especially private universities) sort of deaf and blind to find the most suitable candidate for the post..end up, they choose to be ass-kisser by appointed wives of the most unwanted men in Malaysia to be Canselor...hahahahaha....

We have so many emeritus professors in Malaysia, well-known businessmen, prominent highest post civil servant etc, but we still choose the losers to lead our universities. They can't even change their husband, how on earth they can change universities for better???

And we still day dreaming to be world class universities...what a joke!

Free to choose

My final year research project starts this week. First txt I received on Monday was fr a student unable to come to university due to family matters. Before I joined university, I hardly tolerate when people give this kind of excuse...well, I guess I'm getting more mature or more practical nowadays...:-D

Everything goes on quite ok. I always ask myself do I want to be a person who just give assign people to do the job or somebody who guide them...?? During my FYP, my sv only assigned me with a title, never really guide me..But she actually spent time when I really could not think anymore...my PhD sv also did almost the same thing. None of them ever pushed me..hahahaha..thank God I still myself...:-))

Am I going to do the same..yeah...I guess it's up to me. I know what I like and what I hate the most...am I going to repeat the history?

with 5 FYP students + 2 master students, it's quite tiring to do what I wish to do...oh well, I'm quite good in kicking _ _ _..

Yellowman..

Months ago when I read in The Star about this Digi yellowman turned up at somebody home, I always thought I would love to do the same...hahahaha...this yellowman getting more and more cuter day by day..and the ads also funnier than ever...

My youngest nephew shares my interest as well :-D Yesterday, when I visited him he made several yellowman moves from the latest ads..soooo cute...Although, he can't speak yet, he manage to mock yellowman move :-)

If only Digi can promote themselves like XPax or Hotlink....

Palace statement

With news in all media that Istana regret the 10 eleven march make me sick. Obviously something is wrong somewhere..I just don't get it first, it's not the official 'penyimpan mohor besar raja-raja' that gave the statement. Secondly, they invite 'tauke' from Bukit Bintang to say all business lose millions in 1 day..what's the relation?

Here is an interesting article from Malaysia Today. Some parts quite interesting :-D
  • FROM HISTORY- In November 1999, I was tasked with the job of delivering a letter from Barisan Alternatif to the Istana Negara requesting an audience with The Agong then, my uncle. I delivered the letter at noon on Friday and went off to the mosque for my Friday prayers. When I went back to the office around 2.30pm there was a reply waiting for me in the fax machine turning down our request for an audience, with a suggestion that we try again after the general election. Our letter was addressed to The Agong. The reply came from the Prime Minister’s Department. The Agong never got to see the letter and was not even aware that one had been sent. And that was probably the fastest reply ever from a government department in Malaysia’s entire history.
  • This Datuk Pengelola Bijaya Diraja chappie is a most unpopular personality in the Palace office. Everyone in the Palace office knows he has been planted there as the eyes and ears of the government. And his job is not only to keep a watch on things and report back to the Prime Minister’s office whatever is happening in the Palace, but he has also been tasked with the job of frustrating every effort of The Agong in interacting with the rakyat (citizens).
  • Oops, forget about arresting them. 50,000 is too large a number to arrest. There are not enough trucks to ferry 50,000 and not enough jails to house 50,000 people. Instead, close all the roads leading into Kuala Lumpur. Seal off Kuala Lumpur and not allow anyone in. Let it remain 50,000. Don’t allow it to grow to 100,000. Then we will announce we won. We will announce that the march failed and the ‘illegal demonstrators’ were prevented from assembling at Dataran Merdeka.
Those who read The Star on 10th March should know that massive traffic jam happened on that day. Heaps of road blocks and a lot of roads were closed and diverted to other places. Most 'official media' reported only 4000 people in that gathering, how true?? 4000 out of 24 000 000, nothing to worry hahahaha..Obviously more than 40 000...

Hujan - Pagi Yang Gelap

Hot song on FlyFM...although the voice was like the singer just woke up in the morning (quite mandom) :-), the song quite nice...hehehehe..at least me and few friends like it..probably because I listened to this song more than 5 times a day...

Hujan - Pagi Yang Gelap

Lebih tua dari ku harap sabar menunggu
Kepulangan mu ku tunggu
Bukan maksud ku mendiam
Tiada niat menyimpan dendam
Hakikat nya rindu yg mendalam

Jalan inikan membantu
Hari esok siapa yg tahu
Kata ibu dengar sahaja
Cerita hanya kita berdua

Pagi yg gelap kini sudah terang
Aku adik mu
Dan engkau abang
Ku amat merindui kan mu
Pagi yg gelap kini sudah terang
Aku adik mu
Dan engkau abang
Ingin ku ulang kemasa dulu

Tak akan putus
Hubungan kita
Tarik nafas lega kerna aku tak apa apa

Jalan inikan membantu
Hari esok siapa yg tahu
Kata ibu dengar sahaja
Cerita hanya kita berdua

Pagi yg gelap kini sudah terang
Aku adik mu
Dan engkau abang
Ku amat merindui kan mu
Pagi yg gelap kini sudah terang
Aku adik mu
Dan engkau abang
Ingin ku ulang ke masa dulu

I need some sleep..

a bit tiring this week with short course and exam marking...sleep late, wake up in the middle of the night or wake up early in the morning just to do some work..

I need some sleep. I can’t go on like this. I try counting sheep, But there’s one I always miss. Everyone says I’m getting down too low Everyone says: "You just gotta let it go" "You just gotta let it go" I just gotta let it go I need some sleep time to put the old horse down I’m in too deep and the wheels keep spinning round Everyone says I’m getting down too low Everyone says: "You just gotta let it go" "You just gotta let it go" I just gotta let it go You just gotta let it go You just gotta let it go You just gotta let it go

5 star but not a world class university

Excellent but not a world class university. in line with out motto "WE LEAD"

According to The Star today, USM was named as the best overall university in survey..Although, UKM held the highest rank in World Class Universities list, USM is more popular when comes to research.

The main advantage of universities in Klang valley is they can easily find postgraduate students. Unlike us in such a small town (engineering campus in particular), we can barely find students. The best thing we can do is to call up friends from other universities and ask their favour to find students for us. I can't imagine to do research work without postgraduate students..In order to maintain the highest position, I guess the top management must do something about it..or else it will affect the performance in the future...

here is the full article about it...

USM named best overall university in survey

PUTRAJAYA: Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) has been named best overall university in an academic reputation survey carried out by the National Accreditation Board (LAN).

It had a score of five, which is equivalent to excellent.

Of the 10 domains in the survey, which include the perception of respondents according research quality, academic resources, reputation of academics, quality programmes and the university of choice for students, USM scored mostly fours and fives.

According to the scale, one is weak, two unsatisfactory, three satisfactory, four good, five excellent and six outstanding.

In an immediate response, USM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dzulkifli Abdul Razak said it was a good start.

“Now we have to work harder to maintain this position and lead the pack,” he said.

Asked why none of the four research universities had obtained “excellent” or “outstanding” in terms of research quality, he believed the universities had to improve their applied research.

“This is as opposed to basic research, which is laying the foundations and viewed by the public as having little application,” he added.

Higher Education Minister Datuk Mustapa Mohamed said the survey, based on information from 2005, was sent to 954 individuals with 272 responding.

“Outstanding could be seen as world class. Based on the perception of the respondents in the survey, our universities have not reached that status yet,” he said when asked why no institution had been classified as “outstanding”.

Tiada Universiti terbilang

Tok Pa's statement in Utusan Malaysia, non of the public universities achieved 'universiti terbilang' (world class university) -survey by Malaysian Quality Accreditation or previously known as Lembaga Akreditasi Negara....Therefore, don't syok sendiri :-))

Anyway, it's great to highlight 2 paragraphs:

From the survey, I guess I'm in the right direction....Just can't imagine how much more workload they are going to dump on us to maintain or improve the status...cemerlang, terbilang, TEMBERANG!

my life update

I've been busy after raya...most of my colleagues took 2-3 weeks off, so we have so many things to settle including course work marks, grants etc..also, so many gossip...hehehe..

I managed to spend my weekend at Kuna's place last week. Me and Syaf visited our 'sentimental places' e.g. Tasik Melati, MRSM Perlis, Taman Ular...A week before SPM, me and my classmates spent our time at Tasik Melati to study history...I never even got B and above in history, but I got A for my SPM....hahaha..Tasik Melati changed a lot compared to more than 10 yrs back while I was there-so fast..I feel like I just sat for my SPM last year hahahaha....young forever! When we visited MRSM, they actually had graduation ceremony..so we only wandering around to see familiar places such as Desamara Anggun, Ekhwani, Bukit Gondol etc...Hmm, I don't know either I do like MRSM or not since that place changed me a lot...physically and mentally...Best parts of our visit were foods and shopping...nice ikan bakar and seafoods in Kuala Perlis..Shopping at Padang Besar and Wang Kelian..Don't know how much I actually spend there...hehehehe....

Here is a note from my students...sweet haa?? :-) well, I never wrote to my lecturer though...

When the idiot talk

hmmm..the news in The Star today really make me want to vomit...:-D How on earth SIL said he will use 'protection' as PM's son in law..Well most of us alert how he already misused the connection to the Sleeping beauty PM...oh well I never believe he will use the protection to change UMNO for better...

His comment on myteam is another disaster. Those who watched Myteam2 vs Indonesia will definitely curse him for his remark :-) Started with opera singer Ning Baizura sang Negaraku song in her version. If her version was nice, I don't think I even bother..But she sang the song in God knows what version, very slow...no energy...I was very surprised when only 1 news paper commented about it since the event belonged to SIL..If the event belongs to me, no doubt even my friends will comment on it, am I right???:-) The game was a complete disaster. How on earth the team that was trained almost a year, recruited the player around Malaysia, trained for a week or so in Manchester-end up loss to Kampung-Trained Indonesian??? And then this people say it was a good game.....hello, are you guys deaf or blind??? Or kiss ass too much?

oklah, don't want to ruin my day..hahaha...

Raya datang lagi...

This year seems the 'fastest' Ramadan since years ago..hehehe...with unbelievable workload and so on, all I realize Raya next week yeehaaaa...

Since first day fasting, I think I barely missed pasar ramadan. Keep changing from 1 pasar ramdan to another. During weekdays, I always have colleagues to 'shop' with me...I use the word 'shop' because we really 'shop' :-D from 1 stall to another, taste almost all foods..which stall sell the best murtabak, lemang, ayam panggang, ikan bakar, kuih, nasi kerabu etc, you can just simply ask us..hehehe...Also, sort of unofficial role in my house, I have to cook over the weekend. I showed them my talent in cooking ranging from nasi arab, nasi ayam, nasi tomato, spaghetti etc...For a person who hardly cook before I went to NZ, it's quite amazing...:-))

About baju raya, technically I don't have baju raya. However, before Ramadan I sent several 'work clothes' to my tailor. Since I only got them 3 weeks ago, this raya I have 3 baju raya...Plus 2 kebaya which I only managed to fit it now, I have 5 baju raya...hahaha...quite vogue this raya...

About kuih raya, of course I don't make any. I ordered 10 types of kuih raya ranging from my favourite tat nenas, chocolate short bread, putu kacang, tempeyek etc...typical kuih tunjuk I would say.

I only take 2 days extra leave for raya. I have so much to do including lab reports to mark and quizzes..Also, I have to sit for Bahasa Malaysia exam after raya. It's unbelievable...So many changes in Bahasa Malaysia since 1990s....:-( Really have to put some effort to study tatabahasa...

Well, those people in HR sort of don't have raya spirit yet...They call me for interview in Minden Campus this Wednesday. They just called me last Friday. Thank God I don't have to balik kampung (since I live in kampung) or else I might miss this interview..ok, wish me luck for the interview!

Selamat Hari Raya & Maaf Zahir Batin!

Ramadan in Malaysia

This is my first fasting in Malaysia since years ago :-D Quite challenging coz I still haven't completely change..hehehe...

The best thing about fasting in Malaysia is Pasar Ramadan. Here, heaps of Pasar Ramadan. We just need to decide where to go. Several factors need to consider such as how easy to park our car, food price, specialty, distance, and not to forget how crowded..hehehe...as for myself, normally I can't stand crowded places...Either I go early or not going at all...I enjoy buying food. Unfortunately, my body seems cannot accept heavy food during breaking fast...since last few days, I sort of lost appetite. I only had kueh for breaking fast and bread for sahur. Well I guess, I just don't like white rice hehehe..maybe I should find other option...

Teaching during fasting is quite challenging...sometimes, i can see student sort of 'lost'..Not sure due to sleepy or hungry :-D or eat too much last night! hahaha...we tried to be patient though..Work wise, too many marking to do..hundreds of lab reports, quizzes, test, assignments to mark..all of them must be ready after raya. Raya break is actually study break for university, so we can imagine how much work need to be done during raya :-)..I don't think I will take extra leave for raya...

hmmm..time to order kueh raya..heaps of supplier...we can choose from kueh 'kampung' to modern. Since my area consider as kampung, the price is not too bad...can order more and more kueh...

Baju raya? next post....

KC's visit to USM

My SchoolLast Friday, KC visited my school. It was quite embarrassing because my office was in complete mess. hehehe..Actually, we've been busy with RU, research niche and also research proposal that due on Friday..He arrived 30 minutes earlier that's why I didn't have enough time to tidy up my office..full of files and papers everywhere...:-D

We had lunch together with my colleagues at Hotel Damai (the only hotel in this kampung). After that KC gave seminar. I brought him to visit our lab which is much better than UoA :-)
May be we could have collaboration in the future....

Here are several pictures..

How do I look in Baju kurung :-D

Here is the abstract of his talk.

Seminar on Progress in Polymer Electronics

Dr K.C. Aw

Mechanical Engineering Department

School of Engineering, University of Auckland,

New Zealand

Date: 30th August 2007

Time: 2pm

Venue: Seminar room, SMMRE

Abstract:

Organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) based on solution-processible polymeric materials have shown impressive improvements in their performance during recent years. These devices have been developed to realize low-cost, large-area electronic products. This review gives an overview of the research work performed at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Auckland.

Several topics covering the development of OFET’s non-volatile memory incorporating ZnO, polyaniline(PANI) nanotubes field-effect transistor as gate controllable diodes and newly synthesized functionalized polythiophene as OFET deposited using electropolymerization technique will be discussed.

Some pics...

Here are several pictures around engineering campus. The first two was fishing competition in REDAC pond. I did not fish though :-) I was there just to represent academic staff to give moral support to my school's team..The weather was very hot...

From my left Aida (assistant registrar), Khairol (technical staff) and Iezan (office)

Engineering campus in 'Kampung'

My OBE class (120 students)-group exercise

Office siapa la yg bersepah ni?? :-D

My new toys....

Ahaks....here are pictures of my new toys....Most of my friends laugh when I told them I bought these :-D

Treadmill and exercyle. Those abs trimmer and gymball were from NZ

My toys in my bedroom

My justification, since the past 3 months I barely have enough exercise..First, of course my routine work in which I finished work after 6pm. It's too tiring to go for exercise after work. Second reason was uncomfortable gym in USM. Of course the gym was not well equip compared to UoA. Moreover, very few exercise gadgets there or in bad condition. They were not well maintained. Probably , it's not our lifestyle here...:-) In the first place, I still make time to go for a jog, play netball or squash. However, nowadays it's almost impossible to make time to do so...

A couple of weeks ago, me and my friend went for PC fair in PISA Penang. As expected, the traffic was a nightmare to go back. We decided to detour Queens Bay Mall. That's how I decided to invest in treadmill. At that time, they had promotion-buy treadmill get an exercycle and slimming belt for free. It was quite a good bargain although I actually paid extra to upgrade the exercycle. The one for free was not my taste and too far from gym specs..hehehehe...

Now, I have enough equipments in my bedroom, treadmill, exercycle, abstrimmer and gymball (which I bought in NZ)..Next on the list will be a set of dumbbell...hahahaha

To date, I can't be sure either I really make a good investment or not. Of course I don't have time to exercise everyday, but I still make efforts to exercise several times in the morning. My main point is I would rather spend my money for a good purpose rather than save the money for God knows why... For me, I prefer to have all those things even if I don't use it. If something goes wrong with me in the future I know it's not because I'm too stingy!

*Kuna said my treadmill looks like Ferrari car hahahaha

Pangkor Island

Here are several pictures in Pangkor Island in June 2007. I attended Outcome-Based Education (OBE) course which is a new requirement for all engineering course in Malaysia. The first audit or accreditation will be held in March 2008. Currently, most of us were busy preparing for the unnecessary documents hehehe..

About the course, we were taught by UTM lecturers how they conducted their class in UTM based on OBE. Surprisingly, most of their class is 100% course work with less than 40 students. I still wonder how on earth we can implement OBE in class of 100-700 students??? With limited spaces in Lecture theaters and lecture rooms, how are we going to do group discussion ?? Let upper management decide this :-)

Diam tak diam, I came back more than 3 months already...so fast...Still feels like yesterday..hehehehe..still can feel the weather, the people there, although I never think of going there again hahahaha...I haven't downloaded pictures at Syahira's place though..To those involved in farewell gathering and last kopek party, again, thank you very much.

Today, I completed 3 months out of 7 years service in USM. hehehe...not bad though, I finished one class for 2007. From today onwards, I think I will have more time to concentrate on research, and of course do lots of marking...

Nasi Arab ala Kayron--97% FAT FREE :-)

Here are pictures of our cooking session at K/Ton's place...Biasala peram lama sikit :-D

Warga Dapur

Referring to my previous post on 11 April...

:-) I found k/Tun's recipe was just toooo hard for me (or any modern society??). Therefore, I hv successfully modified the recipe to suit my lifestyle..However, this recipe only for 4 persons (my size) or 2 men...:-))

Advantages of my modified recipe:
  • 97% fat free :-)
  • Cook in microwave or electric rice cooker- simple life
  • 30 minutes preparation and cooking time

Ingredients:

1 cup Basmati rice
Half Bombay onions (cut into rings)
0.5 kg lean beef -preferably steak slice or 'batang pinang' (cut into bite size)
3 Tbs vegetable oil
1 Tbs lite butter
half cup lite evaporated milk
half carrots (grated coarsely)
1 Tbsp salt
1 Tbsp sugar
3 Tbs Raisins
Water (Ratio of water 1.5: 1 measurement of rice) **

Method:

1. SauteƩ (tumis) until fragrant and crunchy (garing) with vegetable oil and butter. This should take around 5-10 minutes.
2. Add water and evaporated milk
3. Add lean beef pieces and grated carrots, then stir and put the lid on, lowering the heat and remembering to stir occasionally. This has to be done till the meat is cooked through (daging menjadi empuk).
4. Stir in the salt and sugar. Cover and let the mixture simmer.
5. Pour the mixture in rice cooker (microwave or electric)
6. Stir in the raisins.
7. Place the rice cooker in a microwave, and set at HIGH for 20 minutes. For electric rice cooker, just press the button and wait until cook hahaha
8. To obtain a good mixture, stir the mixture every 10 minutes. If lazy, stir the rice when its cooked.

How simple is my recipe...feel free to try...:-))
